What would make you walk away from a negotiation?
Longer version: L10 · What behaviour from another councillor or community member would make you walk away from negotiations, and what behaviour wouldn't?
There are very few things that would make me walk away from a negotiation but one thing I would not tolerate would be verbal abuse or harassment of myself or my staff, particularly if it is based on violations of human rights.
I would walk away if an agreement required dishonesty, compromised safety or unfairly harmed residents. I would also reject commitments the City could not responsibly deliver. I am willing to compromise, but any agreement must serve the public interest. I would explain my decision and seek a better alternative.
